Box lacrosse's trophies: the Mann Cup, the Minto Cup and the world box titles.

Canada's national box lacrosse titles are some of the oldest trophies in the sport: the Mann Cup for senior A men and the Minto Cup for junior A men. Their 2026 competitions are finished. This page gives the results since 2022, says which of them we could confirm, and adds the world box championships.

Professional box lacrosse, the National Lacrosse League and its NLL Cup, is on professional leagues. How the box game is played, under World Lacrosse's box rule book, is on box lacrosse.

The Mann Cup (senior A)

The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame's timeline says Sir Donald Mann gave the cup in 1910, that the Young Toronto club first won it, and that it became a regular national amateur competition in 1925; this rests on that one source. The Manitoba Lacrosse Hall of Fame says the 1932 Mann Cup was the first played under the new box format, won by the Hamilton Tigers over the Winnipeg Argos. Wikipedia describes the modern series as a best of seven between the champions of Major Series Lacrosse (Ontario) and the Western Lacrosse Association (British Columbia), with the Mike Kelley Memorial Trophy for its most valuable player. The Lax Mag says the series is staged at the MSL or WLA champion's home arena in turn, and that 2026 was Ontario's year.

2025. The Lax Mag calls the 2025 win the Chiefs' third in a row and their ninth Mann Cup, and Turtle Island News, in October 2025, also refers to a third straight title.

2026. The Six Nations Chiefs reached the series by beating the Peterborough Lakers 4-2 in the MSL final, winning Game 6 10-3 in Peterborough, and the Coquitlam Adanacs by beating the Victoria Shamrocks 4-2 in the WLA final (The Lax Mag; Major Series Lacrosse headline). Turtle Island News reported on 9 September 2026 that the Chiefs would host every game at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, starting on Friday 11 September 2026, and that a win would be their fourth in a row and their tenth Mann Cup. Wikipedia records that the Chiefs won 4-0 for their tenth title. We found no Lacrosse Canada, league or press report of the games themselves, so the 2026 result is unconfirmed.

The Minto Cup (junior A)

The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame says Lord Minto, then Governor General, gave the cup in 1901, that Ottawa first won it over Cornwall, and that it was placed in junior competition in 1937, points that rest on its timeline alone; its 1931 review says the cup was not contested from 1925 to 1936 and sat in storage. Wikipedia says the Canadian Lacrosse Association has awarded it as the junior title since 1937 and that since 1960 it has been played for by the junior A champions of British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.

2026. Lacrosse Canada reported on 24 August 2026 that the host Calgary Raiders beat the Victoria Shamrocks 9-6 in Game 3 of the final at the Max Bell Centre, Calgary, the first Alberta team to win the Canadian junior A title. Dylan Belliveau was tournament MVP, and St. Catharines took part for Ontario. Wikipedia gives the tournament dates as 16 to 23 August 2026 and the first two games of the final as 9-7 and 6-14; those two scores are Wikipedia's alone.

The Founders Cup and the President's Cup

The 2026 Founders Cup, the junior B championship, began in Saint John, New Brunswick, according to a Lacrosse Canada headline. Wikipedia, seen as a search summary, lists the Akwesasne Thunder beating the Seneca WarChiefs 11-4 in the final, with the event running from 16 to 22 August 2026; we could not confirm this from Lacrosse Canada. For the President's Cup, the senior B championship, we found no 2026 result.

World box championships

World Lacrosse held its 2024 Box Championships in Utica, New York, with a men's and, for the first time, a women's event. Canada beat the United States 13-7 for the men's gold, its sixth, and the United States beat Canada 10-7 for the first women's gold; the Haudenosaunee took bronze in both (World Lacrosse). Full results are on World Championships.

Earlier world box events, from the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame's timeline:

  • 1980: the first world box championship, "Nations in '80", in Vancouver.
  • 2003: Canada hosted the first sanctioned World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Ontario and beat the Iroquois Nationals 21-4 in the final.
  • 2007: Canada beat the Iroquois Nationals 15-14 in overtime at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Halifax.
  • 2015: Canada won the world indoor title, with the Iroquois Nationals second. The Onondaga Nation, which hosted it, says it was the first world championship held on Indigenous lands.

World Lacrosse said in 2024 that Canada's men had gone 35 box matches unbeaten since 2003. The team now called the Haudenosaunee Nationals was the Iroquois Nationals until 2022; its results are on Haudenosaunee Nationals results. We found no broadcaster statement for the 2026 Mann Cup or Minto Cup.
